Marginal Risk Weather Outlook Today

Post Date:03/15/2024 7:46 AM

A series of disturbances are expected to bring rounds of showers and thunderstorms on Friday & Saturday as a cold front stalls out over SE Texas. The first round of storms is expected to develop during the early morning hours of Friday, with a brief lull during the late morning/early afternoon, then later a second round of storms developing during the late afternoon/evening on Friday. The threat of severe weather will be present throughout the day, but will be greatest during the late afternoon/evening hours on Friday. SPC currently has areas west and northwest of Harris County under a Slight (level 2/5) Risk of severe weather on Friday, with the rest of the region under a Marginal (level 1/5) Risk. All severe hazards will be possible, but large hail and strong gusty winds will be the main threats. There is a chance that these storms could produce significant hail upwards of 2" or more in the Slight Risk area.
