Kerry Neves is a native Texan, born in San Angelo, Texas in 1950. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1969 until 1972, and was discharged as a Sergeant. He returned to Texas for college and law school, and has lived in Galveston County for 33 years. His wife, Sharon, is the District Math Coordinator for Dickinson ISD. They have a daughter, Erin, who graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2012.

Education

Judge Neves received a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree with Honors with an Accounting major in 1975 from The University of Texas at Austin. He graduated from The University of Texas School of Law in 1978.

Professional Information

Judge Neves has practiced law in Galveston County for 33 years. He has been a member of a large law firm, a small law firm and been a solo practitioner. He has tried approximately 80 civil cases around the State of Texas, in both State and Federal courts. He has been Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law since 1994. He has experience in personal injury, products liability, toxic torts, asbestos, legal, medical and accounting malpractice, business disputes and real estate litigation, along with other civil matters.

Community Involvement

For the 14 1/2 years before being elected, Judge Neves was a member of the Dickinson City Council. He has been active in numerous civic groups in Dickinson and Galveston County, and was the namesake and first recipient of the Kerry Neves Community Service Award, created by the City of Dickinson in 2011. The North Galveston County Chamber of Commerce recognized him as the Community Service Citizen of the Year for 2007 and the Citizen of the Year for 2008.

He also served on the Board of Directors of the Houston-Galveston Area Council (H‑GAC) for 9 years, including a term as Chairman of the Board. He was Chairman of the Galveston County Republican Party from 2007 to 2008, and President of the Texas Federation of Pachyderm Clubs from 2004 to 2009.
