Effectively Protest Your Property Value Booklet, Spreadsheet, Video of Power Point Show and "Cliff Notes" Protest Info to Prepare for ARB Process

2024 appraisal notices will soon be arriving in Galveston County.  If you have a property tax consultant, you will likely NOT receive a notice so before the May 15th deadline, click on the link Galveston CAD and search for your property by your name, address or account number.  

Informal conferences are now REQUIRED to be held but you MUST file a formal protest form in order to be scheduled for the informal conference.  If you appear in person, you will be asked to complete the form Protest Form 50-132 before meeting with an appraiser.  When completing the form, also request all data used to determine your value (this will include sales, values in your neighborhood or similar, appraisal information, etc.) AND request the appraisal card with sketch!

Ultimately, we need the Texas Legislature Texas Legislature Online to reform the appraisal system!  In the House, the vast majority of property tax bills are routed through Ways and Means (House Ways and Means Meetings) and in the Senate, both Senate Finance (Senate Finance Committee Meetings) and Local Government (Senate Local Government) committees consider tax legislation.  Participate!  Do not expect others to do it for you!
